Aviarios del Caribe Lodge is located on the exuberantly tropical Caribbean coastal highway, 30 kms south of Limon and 10 kms north of Cahuita National Park. Situated in a privately-owned and operated wildlife sanctuary at the delta of the Estrella River, the Lodge offers many opportunities for observing birds, butterflies, and wildlife -- monkeys, sloths, river otters, caiman, small reptiles, and more -- in a tranquil, protected setting. Aviarios provides a convenient ‘home-base’ from which to explore the nearby villages & beaches of Cahuita or Puerto Viejo. Our Lodge offers many amenities including an upstairs covered verandah for viewing birds and butterflies or relaxing with a cool drink, a library/book exchange, (we welcome all books and magazines!), and a gift shop. Secure parking on the premises. Our guest rooms are comfy and spacious, with floor fans, table/chairs, luggage & clothes rack, and private bath with hot water shower (specified rooms have bathtub/shower). All room rates are based on double occupancy, plus taxes; *each additional person in room (maximum 2), $15 per person (plus tax). For a single in any room, deduct $10 per night. A wonderfully delicious, hearty breakfast is included in the room rate! Room Rates: We do not offer lunch or dinner, however there are many wonderful, charming restaurants in Cahuita (11 kilometers) and Pto. Viejo (35 kilometers) where you may sample cuisine from Caribbean Creole to Continental!! Aviarios del Caribe is also a certified rescue, rehabilitation, and release center for sloths ... come meet Buttercup and the others to learn about these marvelous animals up-close and personal. Enjoy a walk along our rainforest path to observe monkeys, wild sloths and other jungly creatures! The Sloth Rescue Center Tour and Jungle Walk is complementary to our guests. We also offer a 3-1/2 hour guided canoe tour ($30 per person) with plenty of opportunities for birdwatching ... perhaps you’ll see a caiman or river otter too! We would be pleased to help you arrange other ‘day-trips’ to such exotic destinations as Cahuita National Park, Hitoy/Cerere Biological Reserve, Gandoca/Manzanillo Wildlife Reserve, or to the lovely neighboring beaches of Puerto Viejo, Manzanillo, Punta Uva. We will help you plan horseback riding adventures, or snorkeling the reefs. And all of these adventures are within easy reach of Aviarios Del Caribe!
